DERBYSHIRE PLAYER PATHWAY
"The focus for DC and AC is talent development, not winning matches or just about getting into PC, but being a better hockey athlete"
Derbyshire Development Centre (DC) activities will run at three venues within the county to which all hockey players are invited.
- Ellis Astro, Shobnall Leisure Complex –Burton.
- Belper Meadows, Belper.
- St Mary's School - Chesterfield.
All dates and times are listed on this site, or in the Derbyshire Player Pathway Handbook for 2019-20, which can be downloaded from HERE
Information for 2020-21 season is not yet available
The centres will be led by Level 3 and Level 2 coaches where possible and are the first rung on the ladder of the player pathway. The emphasis for the DCs is skill development and players will have the opportunity to practise their skills in competition with neighbouring DCs.
Players will be assessed and possibly selected for progression through to Derbyshire Academy Centres (ACs). AC training will run from September with fixtures generally scheduled for after Christmas. ACs will run U13, U14, U15 and U16/17 age groups for girls and boys.
The Academy Centres (ACs) replace the County teams and will compete with ACs from other Counties. Those players not progressing to ACs will be encouraged to continue with school and club hockey and will be provided with information on local activity until the DCs begin again the following season.
All players wishing to take part in DC or AC should enrol via The England Hockey Player Pathway System website. All registered players will receive a copy of the new season's Derbyshire Player Pathway Handbook when it is issued.
Please note that due to low numbers there will be no DC activity for U16 & U17 Boys and Girls. All players will be invited to attend AC and assessment will take place during the first sessions.
